Günter Mattei was born in Austria in 1947. From 1971 to 1974 he studied at Munich's Graphic Design Center and lives since that time in Munich. He designs graphics and illustrations for publishing houses and agencies in Germany and other countries.

After several travels to the Caribbean this subject became a main topic in his works. Mattei is also famous for his posters and the bar books he made together with Charles Schumann. For Winter & Winter he created CD booklets and covers (Rio, Trio Tesis, Cuadernos de la Habana, Orientexpress, Cabaret Modern).
